Posts: / The Future of Man--How Will Evolution Change Humans?

im sure if you look close enough there are tiny internal optimization mutations that occur in less generations like maybe if the liver breaks some chemical down slower blood flow is better increasing longevity or something. i'm talking out of my ass but id not be surprised if this kind of thing was very common

If the liver breaks down some chemical and it leads to longevity that in and of it self would not be enough to transfer to subsequent generations unless it was somehow able to encode into the germ line or be passed epigenetically. I would imagine that the expeditious nature of human evolution discussed in this story most likely came about epigenetically. Such that changes influenced from the environment caused changes in phenotypic expressions that lead to genotypic modifications over time.

...or if it was a mutation that could benefit future generations. like say it led to longevity and the ability to produce more successful sperm at an older age. in your face!
